Board of Directors

• Carlos G. Matos, President, is a retired Yolo County Alcohol, Drug and Mental Health Clinician. He served for 10 years on the City of Davis Human Relations Commission and on the Yolo County Housing Authority. He serves on the Davis Police Department Community Board and has been on the Davis Community Meals board since November 2009. Carlos can be reached by email at President@DavisCommunityMeals.org.


• Janet Lane, Vice President, teaches writing and ESL in the Linguistics Department at UC Davis. She has lived in Davis for more than 20 years and has served on the Davis Community Meals board since March 2006. She is also a past board president.


• Sheryl Cambrion, Secretary, is an attorney working for Yolo County Counsel's office. She has lived in Davis for over 30 years and has served on the Davis Community Meals board since January 2010.


• Fred Anderson, Treasurer, is a retired executive from the electronics industry. He has lived in Davis since 2000 and joined Davis Community Meals in July 2009 as board Treasurer.


• Kathleen Bowers is a consultant and writer whose work has focused on education, health and social justice issues. She has lived in Davis since 1992 and has served on the Davis Community Meals board since February 2008.


• Hamza El-Nakhal is a retired professor of microbiology. He has lived in Davis for 40 years and joined the Davis Community Meals board in July 2008.


• Mike Fitzgerald has worked in applied social research at both UC Davis and CSU Sacramento as well as for several public agencies. He has lived in Davis for more than 20 years and has been on the Davis Community Meals board since July 2008.


• Jennifer Maloney is a recent transplant to California from Memphis, Tennessee. Jennifer is a former private banking executive and investment advisor. Along with her extensive banking and finance knowledge, she brings to the board an abundance of experience as a leader, volunteer and community services advocate. Jennifer joined the board in June 2010.


• Karena Schmitendorf is an artist and teacher. She has lived in Davis since 2002. She has been volunteering at the Davis Community Meals Resource Center and joined the board in September 2009.


• Rohit Thomas is a graduate student in the Department of Mathematics at UC Davis. He has lived in Davis for four years and has served on the Davis Community Meals board since 2008.


• Frank Wagner is a semi-retired neurosurgeon who has practiced in Chicago, IL, and Sacramento. He and his family have lived in Davis for more than 25 years. He joined the Board of DCM in August 2010.

Executive Director

• Bill Pride – came to California to go to law school and practiced law for 16 years. He began working with Davis Community Meals in 1993 as a volunteer at the Saturday meal. He lived in Davis for more than 20 years and currently resides in Woodland. He has been the executive director of Davis Community Meals since March 2001.
